Hi here’s an about me
I’m Molly!
I’m a journalist and essayist whose writing explores culture, motherhood, grief, and mental illness.
My work has appeared in The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, HuffPost, The Boston Globe, New York Magazine, Business Insider, and more. I’m a regular contributor to Scary Mommy, where I talk about weed, Coraline, and abortion, etc.
My Editor’s Choice Award creative nonfiction, an account of navigating treatment for a mental health crisis, was nominated for a Best of the Net award in 2022. And some here-and-there bits of reporting on reproductive rights & culture have been featured in Romper, Rewire News Group, Yahoo Life, The Progressive, The Public, and in various newsletters and podcasts.
In my former life, I rescued animals for a living, first on a farm animal sanctuary, then as the manager of a no-kill shelter and adoption center.

Born and raised in Waco, Texas (once known for cults, now known for cheery-eyed shiplap), I live in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York with my three children.
I am currently seeking representation for my memoir-in-progress about mental illness and misadventures.
Why the hell am I doing this?
Good question.
I’m a very part-time freelancer who is also working on a book, attending online workshops and writing seminars, and oh yeah simultaneously being the primary parent at home for the three kids I made with barely any childcare. editor’s note: children she loves very very very much.
People always ask me (three people over the last four years) where they can read more of my writing? How can I find out about your next work? How can we keep up with you other than Twitter or Facebook or Instagram or Somehow Hearing Your Voice From 500 Miles Away?, they ask me.
Well, here you go. Let’s have some fun and maybe cry a little.
New issues hit whenever the mood strikes.
